This is a wild west city located outside Bahia Feliz. Visit the
saloon, the city jail and the cementary. There is wild west shows
several times each day. Open each day from 10.00 to 17.00. Closed on
Mondays.
The long stretched beach promenade from Playa del Ingles to Meloneras is well suited for a relaxed bicycle trip. There’s also plenty of opportunities to cycle on the various local roads in Gran Canaria.
There are many different places that rent out bicycles in the Playa del Ingles & Maspalomas area. I counted at least 3-4 various ones. The prices for the most basic bicycle seem to be €6-7 a day. Better bicycles are available from €10-15. Racing bicycles are also available some places, priced from €20-25 and upwards.
We rented two bicycles from Lino’s Rent a Bike. Lino is a friendly and charming man who runs his bike rental business from the Faro II shopping centre in Maspalomas. He has a free pickup service from the nearby hotels, that means that you can rent a bike from him and then have him come pick up the bike at your hotel when the rental is over. Great service.
We rented two decent hybrid-bikes for two days, the cost would be €44, but he gave us a discount without even having to ask him. Ended up paying €40. There were no deposits or any complicated bureaucracy when renting.
Lino’s bike Address:
Campo Internacional - C.C Faro 2

There are various places where you can rent a motor bike. The
price to rent a small scooter like Piaggio 125 starts at €20 per day. If
you want a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 it will cost you from €50.

In most hotel receptions there are 2-3 flyers with information from local motor bike rentals. Ask your receptionist and compare price
There’s a huge selection of restaurants in Playa del Ingles.
There’s Indian restaurants, Italian pizza places, Chinese all you can eat buffets and Scandinavian cafes serving local dishes for the large group of nordic tourists. There’s of course also many restaurants who have “everything” on the menu. From fish to pizza.
My advice is to select a restaurant which has some sort of speciality to get some tasty food and real value for your money. If you go to a general “we have everything, sir!” restaurant you are likely to get disappointed.
This is a popular restaurant located in the Yumbo shopping centre
in Playa del Ingles. In the beginning of January most of the tables
were occupied. We got a table inside the restaurant. The service is
friendly and efficient. The food was by no way the highlight of the
holiday, but it was decent enough. You can’t really expect the best in a
touristy restaurant in a shopping centre, can you?
The prices of food:
Entrecot a la Canaria €10.95
Lasaña Gratinada €6.25
Jarra Cerveza €2.95
Address: C.C Yumbo Centrum L-232-7-8
TLF: 928 766619
Toro Piedra is a restaurant specializing in meat. The restaurant
is decorated with bullfighting effects and in its advertising it claims
that its’ speciality is meat over stone (carne a la piedra).
We chose a t-bone steak and a wienerschnitzel for our meal. The schnitzel was tasty and of good quality, the t-bone steak was on the small side and only consisted of the tenderloin side of the steak. See definition of t-bone steak here: wikipedia article. The price for this “t-bone steak” was €16.90, in order to serve a proper t-bone steak and make a profit the cost should be closer to €20. So, I guess they cut the amount of meat and the price accordingly in order to have t-bone on the menu.
The one we ate at is located in the Varadero shopping centre in Meloneras. But they are also located in the Faro II shopping centre in Maspalomas.
Prices:
T-bone steak: €16.90
Wienerschnitzel: €9.95
0.4l of beer €2.95
There are plenty of opportunities to buy various stuff in Playa del Ingles. But beware, most of the shops sell cheap fabric t-shirts, funny signs, hats and other “tourist junk.” The prices are not especially cheap either with 10 euros for a t-shirt etc.
You will probably get better value for money if you shop at H&M or Zara back home.
